In 2008, Alcatel-Lucent acquired Motive Inc., a leading provider of digital life management solutions for fixed and mobile broadband services. The organization now forms a product division within in the Application Software Group of Alcatel-Lucent. Motive’s solutions portfolio helps telco, wireless, cable and satellite operators wolrdwide deliver and manage a new generation of IP-based services that seamlessly integrate voice, video and data into a single connected experience for customers at-home or on the go.
Customers
Over one hundred customers of the world’s leading communications providers use Motive software, including AT&T, Bell Canada, BT, Deutsche Telekom, EMOBILE Ltd., HUGHES, SingTel, Softbank BB, Swisscom, Telecom Italia, Telefonica Brazil, and Verizon. As a result, Motive products are used by more than eighty-five percent of DSL subscribers in North America, and almost seventy percent of DSL subscribers in Western Europe. Motive is the only vendor to supply digital life management solutions to cable, DSL, mobile and satellite operators worldwide.

Motive’s partners represent the communications industry’s leading network infrastructure, application, customer premises equipment (CPE) and handset vendors, including Actiontec, Airvana, Broadcom, Conexant, Motorola, NETGEAR, Nortel, Thomson, Ubiquisys, Westell, ZTE and ZyXEL. Motive is also an active participant in many industry organizations such as Broadband Forum and Open Mobile Alliance.
Solutions
Motive’s products are used by communications providers to automate and remotely manage common tasks such as activation, configuration, upgrades and customer support across multiple services, networks and devices. Motive solutions include High-Speed Internet, Home Networking, IPTV Service Assurance and Mobile Service Management.
